Gaggia introduced the Gaggia Baby espresso machine to the world over 25 years ago. Since that time it has gone through many variations in appearance and the latest model is the best yet. The housing is a more refined design with better overall fit and finish. The ABS plastic housing has a glossy finish that looks better and has control buttons that are much more attractive.

With a beautiful brushed stainless steel exterior and stylish brewing controls to match, the Baby Class adds elegance to Gaggia's traditional design. Like all Gaggia semi-automatics, the Baby Class has commercial quality brewing components for increased durability and an overall better cup of coffee. Featuring a chrome-plated brass brew group, a heavy 58mm commercial style portafilter and a three-way solenoid valve, the Baby Class has the powerful internal components to compliment its stainless steel finish.

The Gaggia Baby has the same new portafilter handle that the top-of-line Gaggia Classic has, with a professional chromed stainless steel splitter. This upgrade improved the espresso distribution balance between the two spouts. In essence this means that the volume dispensed into two separate espresso cups is less subject to counter tops that are not level. However, you will still have differences in volume that is mostly caused by air bubbles created in the extraction process.

Our technical support department states that it is easier to service as well. The internal parts have stayed the same with the tried and true 55-watt pump (none stronger in the home machines category), dual external heating elements providing 1370 watts of quick and even heating. What people should know is the Gaggia Baby contains that same features as the best selling Gaggia Classic with the exception of the stainless steel housing. If you can live without the stainless steel, then the Gaggia Baby is at a great price that will save you considerable money but provide the same performance. I suggest you review the Classic for addition detailed information before you decide on your choice.

For increased temperature stability, the Baby Class contains a unique boiler system with two heating elements. This heating system is a staple of Gaggia’s semi-automatic design, providing even heat distribution and speeding up the initial heat-up process. The Baby Class is also equipped with a Turbo Frother with a multi-positional Pannarello wand, to take the guesswork out of frothing and steaming. This machine also houses a large 60 oz water reservoir, which can be removed or filled in place for added convenience. Plus, like all Gaggia semi-automatics, the Baby Class is compatible with ESE sized pods.

The Gaggia Baby Class has all of the professional grade features of the Baby model with premium upgrades including beautiful brushed stainless steel housing and a ball joint mounted steam wand for increased range of motion. Designed for serious home brewing, the Baby Class offers a heavy chrome plated brass portafilter, a powerful 15 BAR pump and a 3-way valve that drains excess water from the filter basket after brewing for easier cleanup. Additional features include a large 60oz. removable water tank that can be filled from the top and a turbo frother steam wand tip to quickly froth milk for cappuccino or latte drinks. Uses fine ground coffee or ESE espresso pods.

Commercial Quality Espresso: The Gaggia Baby Class produces true Italian espresso; thick with crema and delicious. All Gaggia brewing components are specifically manufactured to ensure top quality espresso including a heavy duty portafilter handle and brew group forged of chrome plated brass and a powerful professional-grade pump.

Creamy Froth: The Gaggia Baby Class features an improved turbo frother steam wand adapter and powerful boiler that makes frothing a snap so that even a novice can create creamy froth for the perfect cappuccino or latte. In addition, the steam wand pivots on a ball joint for increased range of motion.

Bottom Line: Makes a great espresso. As a first espresso machine, the Baby will do a good job of convincing you that you spent your money wisely.
